Field Engineer - Montreal
Description of the position

Genetec is currently looking for a candidate to fill the full-time position of Field Engineer, for our head-office located in Montreal. Reporting to the Field Engineering team leader, the Field Engineer will provide onsite technical support, perform new installation and will act as a general liaison between Genetec and its customers. The Field Engineer will also be called to provide assistance to the technical support department as well as to configure systems prior to final product shippement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with a strong technical background available to support internal clients as well as clients located in North America and others areas.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, maintenance and provide on-site support of Genetec Solutions.
  • Act as liaison between Customer and Genetec.
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with Customers.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive working knowledge of Genetec's Solutions.
  • Properly document issues encountered out in the field by utilizing the Genetec trouble ticket system.
  • Ensure timely escalation of critical customer related issues through proper channels.
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
  • Define product/functional requirements based on Customer’s requirements and facilitate development work specific to the Customer.
  • Regularly meet with Customer’s personnel during business hours as requested.
  • Provide Customer with an open forum for questions regarding strategic plans, best practices, and advice on upgrades, special concerns, and ad hoc consulting for software implementation, integration, training, and change requests.
  • Provide reporting as requested by Genetec and/or Customer.
Qualifications

General criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences,Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience with advanced knowledge, obtainable usually through a combination of experience and continuing education/training.
  • Possesses strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective organization and time-management skills.
  • Fluently bilingual in both French and English.
  • Experience in Customer Service and Technical Support.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time.
  • Experience with CCTV systems (camera, matrix, DVR, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience with Access control systems (reader, controller, wiring, etc.) is an asset.

Technical expertise

  • Excellent knowledge of Windows 2003, XP and Vista.
  • Excellent knowledge of networking principles and the IP protocol.
  • Experience with PC configuration and troubleshooting with the Windows operating system.
  • Experience with networking equipment configuration and troubleshooting. (switches, routers, etc.).
  • MCSE and/or CCNA certification is an asset.
  • Web/Visual Basic programming is an asset.
