Mobile Apps for Apple, BlackBerry, and Android Devices

The Security Center Mobile allows organizations to equip their security personnel with the latest RIM BlackBerry®, Apple and Android™-compatible devices so they can connect back to their Security Center unified platform over any wireless IP network. Responding to emergency situations often requires operators to be away from their workstation. With Genetec Security Center Mobile, operators and security guards can now remotely monitor and control different aspects of their video surveillance and access control systems while on the move. Whether working on routine tasks or responding to emergency situations, the various mobile apps ensure users have up-to-the-minute security and video data at their disposal.

Requirements

  • Compatible with the Genetec Security Center unified security platform (version 4.0 and up).
  • Supported on the iPod touch® and iPhone® (tested with OS 3.1.3 and up, including OS 4.0)
  • Supported on the iPad® (tested with OS 3.2 and up).
  • Supported on various BlackBerry® Smartphones (OS version 4.6.1 and up)
  • Supported on various Android™-compatible Smartphones (OS 2.2 and up)
  • End users who wish to use the Mobile apps must install the Security Center, enable video and/or access control, and configure the Security Center Mobile Server

Streamlined Deployment and Upgrade Process

Over the years, adoption of mobile security software has been slow in part because of complicated installation and maintenance procedures. The Security Center Mobile app installation is as simple as it gets, with several options available to security and IT departments in terms of deployment. On the Apple iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, security operators only need to log in to the iTunes App Store and load the Genetec Security Center Mobile app. For BlackBerry devices, options include loading and installing to a smartphone directly from a workstation over a USB connection, downloading the mobile app from your organization’s website (OTA or Over The Air deployment), or BlackBerry® AppWorldTM. IT departments can also push the application through their BlackBerry® Enterprise Server (BES), further automating and simplifying the installation and upgrade of the app. For Android-compatible smartphones, the mobile app can be downloaded from the Android Market or from their mobile server via OTA deployment.Reducing the installation time and removing the installation complexities ensures security personnel are up and running in a fraction of the time taken by legacy mobile solutions using PDAs.

Intuitive Mobile App

The Security Center Mobile app takes advantage of the BlackBerry, Apple iPhone and Android-compatible smartphone functionality to offer users an intuitive yet powerful experience. Support for “touch” and “swipe” functionalities on both the Apple and BlackBerry devices ensures the app’s features are easily accessed and intuitive to the user. Powerful search capabilities allow users to quickly locate and view the status of a door, and view video from thousands of different entities. The iPad’s additional real-estate further enhances the operator experience, allowing users to view up to 6 video feeds at the same time. Receiving security alarms and push notifications, monitoring live video and door status information, controlling PTZ cameras, and unlocking doors are standard features available with Genetec Security Center Mobile.

Stay Connected On the Go

Security personnel never know when an emergency call will come in, or when a critical situation will arise. Additionally, when that important call does come in, the security team may be spread out and their location is never known in advance. This is where both the intrinsic value of mobile apps and real-time alarm notifications pushed to mobile devices benefit security operations and your team’s effectiveness at responding to these situations. Automated alarms can be pushed to BlackBerry smartphones through the BES, to Android-compatible smartphones via the Google push notification server, or to Apple devices through the Apple Push Notification System. No matter their location, operators can receive system alarms, view video attached to alarms, and acknowledge alarms, effectively extending the reach of your security team.

Devices Drop-Down The Security Center Mobile iPad app takes full advantage of the iPad’s screen size, with pop-up menus to select devices, manage PTZ presets and more.
Full-Screen Mode Viewing cameras in full-screen mode provides easy access to common features, including taking snapshots.
Landscape Orientation The Security Center Mobile iPad app supports both portrait and landscape mode.
Door Override Security operators can also use the Security Center Mobile app for access control management.

Security Center Mobile for iPhone

Live Monitoring The Security Center Mobile iPhone app makes it easy to access live cameras, take snapshots and control PTZ movement.
Landscape Orientation Rotating the iPhone will automatically trigger landscape mode.
Devices Selection Searching for a device by name makes it easy to access any camera or door in a system.
Favorites Screen Operators can select devices and add them to their favorites’ list. This is perfect for regular patrol routes, or to quickly create a list of devices when responding to an incident.

Acknowledge Alarms The Security Center Mobile BlackBerry app allows operators to receive and acknowledge alarms on the go.
Unified Information Video surveillance and access control information is unified when viewing live events.
