AutoVu License Plate Recognition for Vehicle License Plate Inventory

Collecting a vehicle inventory manually is simply inefficient. Every day, you waste time and resources. There is a more efficient and automated way to do this. It is called AutoVu.

AutoVu is a mobile license plate recognition system designed to help you collect vehicle inventory faster. As you drive through massive lots, AutoVu automatically collects an inventory of vehicle license plates.

AutoVu is the license plate recognition system of the unified security platform, the Security Center. This means you can even collect and review system usage and generate detailed activity and inventory reports. And do it all from your office.

Benefits

Here are some of the key benefits that AutoVu license plate recognition offers you and your operators:

  • Automate the daily collection of vehicle inventory in your parking facility.
  • Cover massive parking facilities in a more time-efficient manner.
  • Generate automatic activity and inventory reports.
  • Determine the location of vehicle in case a patron has forgotten where he/she parked.
  • Use data as evidence against infractions and optimize parking facility management.
  • Optimize the parking facility based on collected lot occupancy data.

Applications

Vehicle Inventory

With an AutoVu Sharp camera mounted on your vehicle, simply patrol each row of your parking facility. AutoVu Patroller in-vehicle system will automatically collect all license plates of parked vehicles. When you are done, simply press a button to offload all data to the AutoVu system within the Security Center.

Back at your desk, the AutoVu system will do an automatic reconciliation. It compares that day’s inventory with the previous day’s inventory. Then, you get up-to-date and detailed inventory information ready for querying and reporting.

Inventory Reporting

You can generate activity reports to see which vehicles have entered or exited the lot. Or you can query the system to find out how many vehicles are in the lot and the number of days each vehicle has been there. So much can be done.

Use full or partial license plate numbers, location, time range to filter though the data. All reports include a color image of the identified vehicle, its license plate, the location, and time stamp. And, you will even see whether it is a new vehicle or a vehicle that has been added or removed to the lot.

Hardware

The AutoVu Sharp is the IP-based license plate recognition camera. This rugged LPR device precisely deciphers license plate numbers with some of the highest accuracy rates in the industry. The AutoVu Sharp is also portable so you can easily move it from vehicle to vehicle.

The AutoVu Sharp LPR camera conducts processing on the edge. This means all the processing and analytics are done inside the unit itself, making the solution compact and easy to install. This license plate recognition camera also reads plates at 45 or 90 degrees on both sides of the vehicle.

Software

The AutoVu license plate recognition system includes two main software components. Here is some more information on the LPR software of the AutoVu license plate recognition system:

AutoVu is the IP license plate recognition system of Genetec’s unified security platform, the Security Center. The AutoVu system within the Security Center gives you back-office management capabilities. You can access and review all data collected throughout the day for further analysis.

AutoVu Patroller is the in-vehicle LPR software of the AutoVu system. You will be surprised at how easy the AutoVu Patroller is to use. And, with large buttons and touch-enabled functions, training on the system is a breeze for officers with all levels of technical experience.

Features

Zone and Route Selector – Upon booting up the system, you can select a route or a zone and row that you would like to begin scanning. This way, the system will keep track of the location of every license plate read. Zones and rows or route selection are pre-configured during the installation phase.

Handheld Device Integration – If a vehicle is backed into a parking spot and has no front license plate, you can easily input the license plate into a handheld device. The information can then be offloaded into the AutoVu system within the Security Center at the end of the inventory collection.

Automatic Reconciliation – After you offload the license plate inventory, the AutoVu system in the Security Center will do an automatic reconciliation of all license plate reads. It merges data from the previous inventory so you get a detailed inventory report ready for querying and reporting.

Image and Time Capture – The system automatically and accurately records an image of the license plate, a color image of the vehicle, the date and time, location and type of activity associated with the vehicle.

Automatic System Boot and Shutdown – AutoVu automatically boots up and shuts down when the enforcement vehicle’s ignition is started or turned off.
