- OS6 is OptaSense's advanced monitoring and analytics system designed to process and interpret data from DFOS and more systems. The platform continuously analyzes the Raileigh Backscatter along a fiber-optic cable and classifies potential intrusion events such as Digging (both Manual and Mechanical), Climbing, Personnel, Vehicle movement, or other disturbances. By converting raw sensing data from the backscatter into actionable security alerts, OS6 enables operators to monitor long critical asset perimeters and borders in real-time including full aural hearing via headphones/speakers.
- Alerts generated by OS6 are forwarded directly into the Genetec Security Center as intrusion events. Each alert includes precise location information along the monitored Fiber route and is displayed on the Genetec map interface, along with the associated date and time. This allows security operators to visualize intrusion events in context with other security systems enabling real-time assessment of activity along the protected perimeter.
- OS6 classifies detected events into several intrusion categories, including Manual Digging, Mechanical Digging, Vehicle, Personnel (Moving Parallel or Perpendicular) to the Buried Fiber Perimeter Intrusion Detection (PIDS) application. For Fence Mounted Fiber PIDS application, the system delivers Activity alerts in event of Cutting, Climbing, Lifting or Ladder.
- In cases where OS6 detects an event type that is not defined within Genetec, the event is transmitted as Unknown in real time. The specific classifications available depend on the configured OS6 detection algorithms, enabling the system to be tailored to the operational environment and security requirements.
- The integration also enhances operational control by allowing users/operators to manage OS6 alerts directly within the Genetec Security Desk interface. Operators can dismiss OS6 alerts within Genetec once they have been reviewed, helping maintain a clear and manageable alarm workflow. In addition, the integration supports direct import of OS6 Fiber Routes/Chainage into the Genetec map, ensuring that detected events are accurately displayed along the monitored infrastructure.
- OS6 also communicates system notifications and warnings to Genetec Security Center as events, ensuring that operators are informed of any conditions that require attention, such as system status updates or operational alerts. This allows the fiber-optic sensing system to be monitored alongside other security infrastructure within a single unified platform.
- To further support operational flexibility, the OS6 IS Gateway integration includes configurable alert filtering capabilities. Users can select which OS6 alert types are forwarded to Genetec and define a minimum alert level threshold that events must meet before they are transmitted to the security platform. This helps reduce unnecessary alarms and ensures that operators focus on the most relevant security events, improving efficiency, and situational awareness.
