Electronic Emergency Mustering Solution Overview

Employees, their credentials, and door events are synchronized in real-time to track who is on site and where people were last located. This information is used to drive the electronic in/out board, large screen status board displays, mustering, and time reporting. In addition, visitors can be checked in on a kiosk or at an attended station and feed in to the same accountability system. Badges can be activated for employees or long term visitors as well. When an emergency occurs, staff can use a Windows tablet or laptop device equipped with a USB badge reader to perform a roll call.

Use cases

Oil & Gas - Transocean

With the goal of improving accuracy and speeding up the process of accounting for everyone on the rig, Captain Steve Walker initiated the project that would lead to a Savance Emergency Mustering Solution. By streamlining the entire mustering process, the final digital emergency management system leverages technology to the fullest. Each person on the rig is given an RFID identifier in the form of a silicon wristband (preferred method) or a proximity card. This allows them to quickly identify and account for themselves at one of several muster points throughout the rig, based on the emergency situation and where the person is located at the moment of the incident. From the bridge or other areas of the rig, visibility into the rig muster is instantaneous through a large screen display, without phone calls, radio, or physical headcount. As a backup, if a person is not wearing their wristband or carrying their badge, their name can be selected from the touchscreen device when checking in to a muster point.

Manufacturing - American Packaging Corporation

At American Packaging Corporation over 80 personnel may be present at one and the same time, distributed over 40,000 square feet. Although it is important to know the status of employees on a day-to-day basis, it is absolutely critical in the case of an emergency. As the rotogravure printing process requires large volumes of flammable solvents, the risks are also considerably higher than for many other types of businesses. Despite this, personnel were accounted for using pegboards, magnetic buttons, and visual confirmation. Through the use of in and out readers APC is now able to account for all employees in the building in an emergency.

Engineering Services - Wunderlich-Malec

Wunderlich-Malec came to Savance looking for a solution they could implement at their new Minnesota location, while being scalable to move across their other 33 locations. Originally, WM used our EIOBoard software to print an active roster in case of emergency. Upon realizing a receptionist wouldn't have time to get documents in order in a real emergency, our full mustering solution was then implemented.

Solution Architecture

Savance integrates with Security Center to unlock several solutions including Visitor Management, Emergency Mustering, Electronic In/Out Board, Large Screen Status Board Displays, Time and Attendance, and more. We allow administrators to synchronize users and credentials and configure the system to automatically synchronize door events in real-time. This allows Savance to track staff, visitors, and contracts that come and go to power our solutions. Savance also uses the integration to create credentials for staff or visitors from a web browser interface. This helps empower our Visitor Management Suite with the ability to assign temporarily or permanent access through badges, barcodes, and more.
