Introducing automation for Security Center
Automation for Security Center provides a sophisticated way to configure automated rules within a security environment. Rules can be built within Security Center systems to address more powerful and complex scenarios, reduce redundant work for operators, streamline system deployment and configuration, and free up valuable time and resources.
Through the power of unification, the new Automation role provides a flexible sandbox where all elements of a unified ecosystem can interact, combining access control, video, automatic license plate recognition, and other events.
Ways to use automation
Device management
- Automatically change recording quality based on a schedule
- Notify operators of device failures (e.g., camera, sensor, and so on)
- Handle events like camera offline or archiver down to prevent redundant alerts
Alarm reduction
- Reduce false alarms by combining multiple events, such as a door forced open, and motion detected
- Require multiple instances of the same event to happen before triggering an alarm
System maintenance
- Automatically trigger maintenance actions for faulty sensors or devices, reducing system downtime
- Automate device password rotation and update firmware, enforcing strong cybersecurity practices
Detect unusual patterns
- Detect and respond to unusual patterns, such as multiple access denied events in a short period
- Trigger alarms based on a combination of events, like analytics and lidar hits
How do you benefit from automation?
Reduce operator fatigue
Automate recurring tasks and reduce noise with better alarm qualification. With less repetitive work, operators can respond faster to critical events. Administrators can also work more efficiently with new tools. They can now select multiple triggers, responses, and sources in a single automation. They can also contextually apply actions to the source entity, use enhanced scheduling options, and more.
Streamline deployment
Save time and resources on system deployment, configuration, and maintenance, especially when managing multiple systems. Automation eliminates the number of configurations needed and the manual effort involved. Configuration templates will also make deploying and maintaining systems much easier. You’ll be able to import and export automation configurations to take advantage of the work you’ve already done across different systems.
Unlock complex scenarios
Take advantage of out-of-the-box functionalities with an easy-to-use platform that allows you to configure powerful rules. The ability to apply “And” and “Followed by” trigger logic means you can combine all events in any order, or a sequence of events. You can also search for multiple occurrences within a specific time frame.
When is automation for Security Center available?
Automation was released in preview mode in Security Center 5.12.1 to gather initial feedback, allowing us to continuously improve the platform and functionalities.
Automation is now fully released in Security Center 5.13.1 and is coming soon in Security Center SaaS.
