SoFi Stadium unifies security across 300-acre campus

From the Super Bowl to the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, SoFi Stadium hosts some of the world’s biggest events. Learn how the team works from a unified platform to keep operations running smoothly, while guests have a safe, fun experience.

Key outcomes

  • Managing video, access control, and other systems from one platform has streamlined security operations for the 300-acre Hollywood Park development.
  • Integrating business systems with Security Center reduced overhead and automated identity management across campus.
  • Genetec Clearance™ allows the team to collect and share evidence faster, reducing manual processes.
  • IT has a reliable, cybersecure deployment designed to evolve with their operations.

The company

SoFi Stadium is a 3.1 million-square-foot sports and entertainment venue, located in Inglewood, California. Home to the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, it’s considered the largest stadium in the NFL with 70,000 seats, expandable up to 100,000.

From sold-out concerts and the Super Bowl to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics, SoFi Stadium consistently ranks as a premier venue for top-grossing events. The stadium is also part of the 300-acre, multi-use Hollywood Park development, where the security team operates from three control rooms to keep everyone safe while ensuring an unforgettable guest experience.

The challenge

With major global events coming to SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, IT and security agreed it was time for a physical security upgrade. Over time, the existing, siloed security systems became harder to manage and couldn’t scale easily. Managing digital evidence also involved slow, manual processes with limited accountability and cybersecurity safeguards.

“Genetec Security Center has improved our response time efficiency by giving us all the information we need in one platform. We’re able to understand what's happening and make decisions quickly.”

Nick Bermensolo, Vice President of Security and Safety at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park

Why SoFi Stadium chose Genetec

After evaluating many products and vendors, both IT and security teams agreed that Genetec checked all the right boxes. Security Center provided an easy-to-use platform to manage video, access control, and all other systems, with built-in tools that helped speed up investigations and incident response.

For IT, the platform performed well at scale and met strict cybersecurity standards. They could seamlessly integrate it into their existing network and hardware environment.

According to Bermensolo, one more thing stood out: “Genetec was a true partner from day one. They took the time to understand our operations and help us achieve our goals.”

Securing major events with unified visibility and control

The Hollywood Park security team uses Security Center to manage everything from one place. They can monitor video, manage cardholders, handle alarms, and investigate incidents quickly. On event days, custom monitoring layouts, door schedules, and threat levels help streamline operations, so staff can respond quickly when needed.

Built-in features like dynamic maps and visual tracking also make it easier to find cameras and track suspicious activity across the campus. “With Genetec Security Center, we can monitor everything in real time and keep this place safe behind the scenes without disrupting the guest experience,” said Bermensolo.

Accelerating evidence management while strengthening compliance

Using Genetec Clearance, the team can quickly compile digital evidence and files into cases and securely share those with internal departments, lawyers, or law enforcement for collaboration. Authorized users receive a secure link via email, with set permissions to download or view evidence. Every user interaction is automatically logged in the system with audit trails, and access to case files can be revoked after a set time. This ensures full accountability and an evidentiary chain of custody while strengthening compliance.

Streamlining processes with business system integrations

Integrating Microsoft Active Directory (AD) with Security Center has streamlined identity management. All user accounts are automatically synced with physical security.  Hundreds of full-time staff and thousands of part-time event staff automatically receive cardholder permissions based on their roles. This reduces manual work and ensures the right people have access to the areas they need.

AD is also linked to other identity systems, such as human resources. If any changes are made across these systems, data automatically syncs up, reducing manual errors and enhancing overall security.

Implementing a reliable, cybersecure platform built to scale

“The Genetec team doesn’t just understand physical security systems, but IT systems too. With their help, we’ve been able to deploy a reliable and high-performing security platform at scale,” said Paul Maldonado, Vice President of IT Infrastructure and Operations at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park.

Since deploying Security Center, IT has a reliable, scalable, and cybersecure platform that runs on an isolated network and connects back to centralized servers. During big events, they support the security team by monitoring system performance from their Network Operations Center, ensuring everything is working as it should.

“The Genetec team helped us understand what a mature and modern physical security solution should look like and how it could scale across a complex environment like ours. In my opinion, no other solution on the market comes close to delivering the same level of reliability and performance as Security Center.”

Results

Today, operators use Security Center to manage over 3,000 cameras, 700 readers, and numerous other systems and sensors across various buildings in Hollywood Park. A big success factor was prioritizing physical security and IT collaboration. On a day-to-day basis, the security team can easily handle security tasks, while IT keeps systems running smoothly on the backend.

Looking ahead, both teams are focused on getting more value out of Security Center, exploring AI-based tools and more automation. For now, they know that they have a flexible, scalable platform that can support evolving cybersecurity and network requirements. “Genetec has really helped us establish a technology standard. Security Center is reliable and cybersecure, integrates well with our network, and reduces overhead for both IT and security. That’s the type of technology we want to continue implementing across our business,” said Maldonado.
