ROYALMOUNT unifies security and operations with Genetec Security Center to support the growth of its entertainment destination

Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, today announced that ROYALMOUNT is using Genetec™ Security Center to unify physical security and support day-to-day operations. ROYALMOUNT is Montréal’s newest shopping, dining, and entertainment destination, bringing together 170 stores, including 60 restaurants and cafés, cultural programming, public art, and green spaces in one connected district.

Expected to welcome approximately 11 to 12 million visitors annually, ROYALMOUNT includes a 77,000-square-foot urban park, a pedestrian bridge connected to Montréal’s metro network and approximately 3,600 indoor and outdoor parking spaces. With additional phases planned over the next decade, ROYALMOUNT needed a security platform that could support current operational needs while adapting as the destination grows.

One view across the entire retail and entertainment complex

Security Center gives operators one unified view of hundreds of cameras, electronically controlled doors, maps, cardholder information, access schedules, and vehicle data. Operators don’t have to switch between applications to investigate events or manage access. All doors and associated cameras are easily visible on the same maps.

The open architecture of Security Center also gives ROYALMOUNT the flexibility to integrate complementary technologies and introduce new capabilities as operational requirements or goals change. This is particularly important for a destination that will continue to expand over several phases.

Simplifying the arrival experience for visitors

Genetec AutoVu™ SharpV cameras are part of ROYALMOUNT’s broader parking system. Working with the destination’s vehicle registration, parking management, and payment technologies, the cameras recognize registered license plates and allow vehicles to enter in approximately one to two seconds. This helps simplify arrival for visitors while giving the operations team useful information about vehicle activity.

Building a foundation to support growth

As ROYALMOUNT continues to develop, the team plans to explore greater use of analytics to better understand attendance, capacity, traffic patterns, and how visitors use different areas. These insights will help the team manage events and improve the visitor experience.
